paradigm DV program
Focuses on change.
Paradigm’s Domestic Violence Program addresses the use of abuse within intimate partnerships and families through a multi-phased approach to programming:
Psychoeducation
Clients can increase insight and self-awareness and understand the importance of accountability and the impact of negative core beliefs. As an active participant in their learning process, clients can incorporate new skills and strategies to better manage emotional regulation, de-escalate and de-stress, and improve communication effectiveness.
Individual Therapy
Clients will address intra- and interpersonal communication, shame, mental health barriers and challenges of their unique lived experience that contribute to the toxicity within their relationships. They will explore self-reflection and how to ensure their healing and growth will continue beyond their program completion.
After Care
Clients may continue individual therapy to explore underlying experiences of trauma and deepen their understanding of self. Or they may continue their interpersonal relationship and parenting work by transitioning to our Coaching services.
Paradigm Programs are culturally sensitive
and supportive of all sexual orientations.
changes in 2023
Following a three year exploration into the unique needs of the clients being referred to the Men’s/DV Program and the outcome measures our Theory of Change hopes to capture, Paradigm Counseling made the decision to redesign our program to more effectively focus our psychoeducation, therapy and after-care services. Through this restructure, we have eliminated the Group Therapy portion of the Program allowing us greater capacity and efficacy in addressing the individuals being served and the collateral systems involved.
Eligibility requirements for new clients have not changed though many current clients have experienced one or more of the following challenges:
Ineligibility or unsuccessful completion of a conventional DV program
Mental health or wellness issues impeding their ability to attend group sessions
Complicated court cases, high-conflict co-parenting dynamics, or active protection orders
Family Court order or ADR requirement to complete reparative relationship work with the person(s) with whom they used abuse
An identified need to complete aftercare therapy work focused on healing from trauma
Requirement for ongoing Parent Coaching services following completion of programming.
